What We Do |
Each Christmas the club members, along with Santa visits our local Adena Medical Center and nursing homes to pass out Christmas cards and teddy bears to the children and older patients confined during the holidays. |
Many of our charitable efforts have been geared to the Christmas season. Over the years, we have donated to several local organizations such as the "Helping Hands", "Christmas Cheer" and local church groups. Pictured to the left is Igniters President, Richard Brown presenting a check to Pastor Glenn Newland of the Bourneville Christian Union Church. The money will be used to provide Christmas gifts and clothing for children amd seniors in the Ross County Area. |
Located in Chillicothe, Ohio, each year we organize cruise-ins and our annual Rod Run car show to raise money to donate to local charities. Our annual Rod Run is held the third Sunday in August each year in the city's beautiful Yoctangee Park. Our 2010 Show is scheduled for August 15. See the "2010 Show" page for more info. |
2008 was a good year for our fund raising efforts. The huge success of our annual rod run as well as the McDonalds cruise-ins gave us the opportunity to donate $1,000 to the Good Samaritan Food Pantry of Ross County along with canned goods collected during the last cruise-in. An additional $1,000 was donated to the Ronald McDonald House by the Igniters this year. |
Our fund raising efforts in 2009 again allowed us to donate $1,000 to the Good Samaritan Food Pantry of Ross County which helps feed the needy folks in our area. The Club also donated $500 to the Ronald McDonald House. |
The Jim Bucy Memorial Scholarship, which was suspended in 2008 will be re-instated this year. Beginning in 2010 we will be awarding a $500 scholarship to a graduate of the Pickaway Ross Joint Vocational School who has elected to further their education in the automotive mechanical or autobody field by attending a technical college fulltime. The recipient will be selected based on academic achievement and monetary need. |
